Release Information & Download Links

Current Release Information:
Bore Da!
Here is the current version release of 'South West Wales' freeware route for Train Simulator 2017
The current version number is v5.5 dated 10 February 2017 and updated to v5.5.1, 16 February 2017
Following the upgrade to TS2017 the route is now much more stable. This version may work with previous versions of TS?

[IMPORTANT. Please remove ALL previous versions and ensure you have all the scenery assets in place (see below).]

Version 5.5.1 ~ Updates since v5.5 (10 February 2017):
Haverfordwest Station Area - Updated.
Version 5.5 ~ Updates since v5.0 (01 December 2016):
The scenery decals placed between Milford Haven and Whitland have been removed and replaced by contemporary scenery. [This folder (and contents) can now be deleted from your assets as no longer used: Assets\Oakwood\Environment\Terrain ]
Track and signaling has been laid to Bridgend from Pyle. Basic landscape scenery added with an awful lot of freestyle imagination!
Track and signaling has been laid to Fishguard. Although some scenery has been added this section is very much 'work in progress' and will be updated in the coming months.
Some technical issues (mainly signaling) have been resolved and in some cases improved along the route.
Where required additional scenery assets have been included and are supplied. Important these are installed by the user before the route is started.

Previous (in v5.0):
The area of coverage is the South West of Wales, Pyle to Milford Haven and includes the oil terminals at Waterston and Robeston. Some areas in this version are incomplete but included to show the scale of the route. New sections have been added with updated visions of Carmarthen and Swansea Station areas including the new IEP Sidings!

The route scenery is not intended to be exact representation however every effort has been made to be as true to real life as possible within the confines of DTGs 'Train Simulator' software.

For Information: Due to technical reasons this route is not suitable to be merged with any other - sorry!
Also, should you encounter any reference to missing track rules files you can safely ignore that as they have no detriment to the sim - that is the way TS2017 works!

PLEASE NOTE: Support for previous versions has now been withdrawn with immediate effect.

Important: As well as the supplied 'default' assets you will require the following Payware routes to run this route:
Essential
South Wales Coastal (Scenery and Rolling Stock) [Available from Steam]
Bristol-Swansea Add-on to South Wales Coastal [Available from Steam]
Required
Glasgow Airport Rail Link [Available from Steam]
Edinburgh - Glasgow [Available from Steam]
Isle of Wight [Available from Steam]
Bristol - Exeter [Available from Just Trains]
All UKTS Freeware Packs [Available from their website]
[Note: There may be 'payware' rolling stock in some scenarios!]

Additionally the SAD route is required for scenery assets used by SWW. This is included in the 'Scenery Assets Files' section.

Required UKTS Library Files:
UK Colour Light Signals: In the library there is a set of upgrade files for the default 'UK Colour Light Signals' (UKTS_27098) which is highly recomended for this route. Thanks to Stephen Dark for this.
Included with these are three sets of ground signals (known as 'Position Light Signals' in the real world). To maintain authenticity for the SWW route you must use the file set marked 'Optional Shunt Signal Patch - Subsidiary'.

The current version of UKTS_27098 v1.2 (included with permission from the provider, Steve Dark) can be found below in the 'sww_sceneryassets' file [asset] and has already had the ground signals added. Any further updates can be found in the library.

NOTE: It is important when you choose to use this upgrade that you consult the provided manual for very important installation and onward use instructions as Steam will overwrite files on update!

UKTS Freeware Asset Packs (Rolling Stock): Please be aware that if these packs are installed and then uninstalled some rolling stock used by scenarios in this route (and others!) may be deleted from your Railworks/Assets folder.

The route files and scenery asset files are supplied in .ZIP format only. Please see later for instructions how to install these.

More information about the assets used and their providers is included with the route files.

Operational Information (from original remarks by Pacerpilot):
SWW does not have many warnings for speed restrictions, nor many actually speed boards at the point of change. This is Prototypical of the real route. I dont know whether we are being rationed down here in South Wales but very rarely do we seem to get a speed board in each direction....sometimes not at all. Its all down to route knowledge for us drivers so in light of that, my first priority is to ensure the speeds are consistent and accurate throughout the route.

(New remarks by Traveller - to assist with game play speed boards have been added where applicable)

Here is a document set outlining the 'Braking Points' as used on the route. This information should be used for reference only and is not for use in the real World! Download the Zip file from here: SWW Braking Points
The archive file contains three types of documents: MS Word Doc, WordPad RTF and HTML for your browser. Choose which is best for you!

Alternatively you can create a dedicated Assets folder for SWW. This method entails the copying of Stock assets from the orginal assets folder (which may have been renamed, for example, Assets.ORG) to enable the provided scenarios to work?
